The Medical Director, Federal Neuro - Psychiatric Hospital, Kaduna, Dr Aishatu Yusha'u Armiya'u has renewed the call for improved budgetary provision for African countries in the areas of infrastructure and manpower development so as to tackle the surging mental health crisis.
As a panelist at the third International Conference on public health in Africa held in Lusaka, Zambia tagged " Breaking Barriers : Repositioning The Global Health Architecture " , Dr. Aishatu Yusha'u Armiya'u said Africa is at the centre stage of globalization owing to its vast market of consumers and huge population contributing innovatively and extensively to its developing self, industrialized nations of Europe, North America and the likes .
She therefore urged stakeholders in the global community to do all within their powers to ensure that inhabitants of the black continent are in sound physical, emotional and psychological wellness so they can contribute more meaningfully to the development of the entire world which is now a global village.read more
The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Kaduna commissioned multiple projects on 2nd August 2023, during the one year anniversary of her Medical Director.
In her remark, the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Aishatu maintained that the hospital decentralized services and moved from an era of standalone psychiatric hospital to offering general services such as basic medical services, antenatal care, radio imaging and dialysis services in a quest to meet the critical health needs of Nigerians..
The projects unveiled at the occasion encompassed an Administrative Block, COVID-19 Intervention Center, Emergency Complex, NHIA Building, Outreach Vehicles and Service Bay, Block of Classrooms, and (Solar) Alternative Power Supply, among other initiatives.read more
Speaking at the recent commissioning of projects at Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Kaduna, the Emir of Zazzau, H.E Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR expressed satisfaction with the development in the Hospital.
The Emir Afterwards commisioned the newly completed Main Entrance Gate of the Hospital, thus opening the gates to the centre of excellence.read more
FNPH Kaduna operates a level 3 Molecular Laboratory with qualified staff who undergo training from time to time. Recently (March 2023), one of such training that focused on Safety, Pipetting techniques, Nucleic Acids Extraction, PCR (Endpoint and Real-time), Gel casting and Electrophoresis, Reagent reconstitution and introductory bio-informatics was carried out.read more
The Administrative Block is an edifice which is situated next to the Emergency Complex of the Hospital. This building is the second building by the right on entering the Hospital through the Main Entrance Gate. There is a reception which receives and directs guests to administrative offices. A fountain right at the centre of the building makes a walk in the building quite soothing.read more
In pursuant to actualizing international best practices in the Hospital, FNPH Kaduna established a Restrain Team in the Hospital. The team which started on the 9th of February, 2023 was mandated to curtail the impact of possible aggressive tendencies that may be exhibited by individuals with mental health challenges.read more

The Hospital Nephrology Unit offers both infectious and non-infectious dialysis services. Dialysis is a procedure to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys stop working properly. It often involves diverting blood to a machine to be cleaned.
At inception the Hospital successfully carried out free dialysis sessions for three (3) patients with diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
Since then, over fifty (50) sessions have held, most of which are for infectious cases. The facility carries out dialysis in Infectious cases of Hepatitis B and HIV.read more

Modern PMS lay emphasis on supportive supervision and cascading of MDA goals to departments/units and individual employees, ensuring efforts are targetted towards agreed goals in a timely and orderly manner.read more

The Hospital has Established a National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) facility. The facility provides general preventive care including immunization, health education, family planning, antenatal and post-natal care. Specialist services are rendered by endocrinologist, family physician, neurologist, pediatrician and others.read more
The African Union through its Centre for Disese Control (Africa CDC) recently organised a High-Level Seminar for Public Health Officials in Africa on 8 - 12 May 2023, The seminar theme was centred on Non-communicable Diseases (NCDS), Prevention and Control.
